Davis Cup The Davis Cup is a very prominent tennis competition. It is the largest annual international team
competition of all the sports. This is a team event in tennis, for men only. It is organized by the ITF (International Tennis Federation). It involves teams of players from countries all over the world. It works in a sort of “knock-out” format. This competition had first begun in 1900. This was when the United States had challenged Britain in a competition. By 2005, however, 134 countries entered their team into the Davis Cup. In history, it shows that Australia and the United States are the more successful in this tournament. The United States has won 32 cups and Australia has won 28 times.
